Midwest Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame: Dan Leahy of NAI Global Logistics
Each year, Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class into its Midwest Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Last year was no exception. Today we take a look at the busy career of one of these new inductees, Dan Leahy, Executive Vice President of Industrial Services with NAI Global Logistics in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
Dan Leahy has played a major role in the Chicago area commercial real estate industry. He is the founding member and managing director of NAI Global Logistics. This means he was involved in many of the biggest industrial transactions in the Chicago area.
Over the past 24 years, Leahy has completed over 550 transactions totaling over $ 2 billion in transaction volume. With this record, it’s no surprise that Leahy is considered one of the top industrial brokers in the country.
A glance at her client list and the big names on it is further proof of the solid career Leahy has built. Its clients include Walmart, JP Morgan, Prologis, IDI Logistics, Brookfield Properties and CenterPoint Properties.
A look at Leahy’s most significant deals shows that the biggest names in industrial real estate are happy to trust her with their biggest deals.
Leahy, for example, has a more than 3.3 million square foot deal for Walmart. He has completed over 70 transactions for CenterPoint properties and 54 for TA Realty. Leahy has completed over 30 transactions for International Storage Properties and 11 for Metropolitan Warehouse & Delivery.
You don’t win as much business from such large players unless you demonstrate a proven ability to close deals and a commitment to working tirelessly for clients. Leahy did, and the results have been exceptional in her career spanning more than two decades.
Leahy’s fellow commercial real estate professionals have long honored this industry veteran for his work ethic, industrial intelligence and successes. He has been nominated 14 times for the Chicago Industrial Broker of the Year award and has won it five times. The NAIOP has awarded him the title of Industrial Broker of the Year Transaction five times.
Leahy has also appeared as a speaker or panelist at various events related to industrial real estate and has been published in publications specializing in industrial real estate and logistics.
In her spare time, Leahy enjoys spending time with her family and friends. It also supports several philanthropic and academic organizations, including Evans Scholars, Catholic Charities, IC Catholic Prep, and Culver Academies.
