Concern is growing about Chinese interests buying large swathes of land, particularly farmland, in the United States – including a sensitive plot in North Dakota near a military installation.
Investigative journalist Sara Carter told Fox News on Monday that the USDA estimates the CCP government owned about 192,000 acres of US land in 2019, which she added has increased since March 2021. with a collective land of $6.1 billion.
“Most of the land is very close to sensitive US military installations,” she told Fox News. “For example, in 2021, 130,000 acres of land was purchased right here in Del Rio, Texas along the US-Mexico border by a former Chinese military official. This land is very close to Laughlin Air Force Base It actually surrounds this sensitive air base.”
Not only is Laughlin a security concern given China’s proximity, but the open and unchecked US-Mexico border presents another complication, given the amount of China-linked fentanyl smuggled in from Mexico, a- she added.

Carter also noted what North Dakota officials are becoming wary of — a Chinese company’s purchase of 370 acres near Grand Forks Air Force Base.
Sen. Kevin Cramer, RN.D., recently told Fox News that the facility houses sensitive drone technology used for space and satellite operations.

Carter told Sean Hannity of Fox News the largest purchase made in Montana near a US nuclear site.
“Right now, the federal government is actually conducting an investigation to see if these Huawei cell towers were intercepting and potentially blocking our communications within our silos and nuclear systems,” she said.
“It’s very concerning. I’ve spoken to US intelligence about it as well as foreign intelligence officials. And they say they’ve been raising the alarm for some time and they’re concerned that he it’s already too late.”
Carter noted that much of what would be considered China’s private sector is primarily tied to the Chinese Communist Party government anyway, meaning most land purchases in the United States are of concern to Beijing.
