“American Dream Home” includes the North Topsail Beach home

A custom-built home in North Topsail Beach is featured on this week’s episode of Fox Business Network’s new show, “American Dream Home.”

The show, which premiered on Tuesday, September 21, takes a behind-the-scenes look at custom-built homes across the country and the stories behind them.

This week, Durham residents Emily and Michael White will feature their new beach house on the show. Michael White said they had a beach house on their wish list for a number of years, and their real estate agent referred them to the show.

“We wanted to be at Topsail just because we’ve been going to Topsail for a number of years,” said Michael White. “The show loves to shoot on the North Carolina coast and was especially looking for a couple in Topsail to follow.”

The Whites episode was filmed on August 23, 24 and 25.

The couple have three children aged 8, 11 and 15, all of whom were featured on the show. Michael White said they felt like movie stars during the three days of filming.

“It was crazy,” said Michael White. “They called us talent, and I’ve had people who referred to me as a lot of things, but talent isn’t one of them. It was a surreal experience and after we were done one of the producers texted us and said, “Welcome back to normal life where you’re not all TV stars.”

Michael and Emily White film an interview following a visit to a house for the show.

Michael White said it was a really cool experience showing off Onslow and Pender counties, and he thinks it will be a really cool spotlight for the area.

“We had a great time showing off,” said Michael White. “I’ve been coming to Topsail Island since I was two years old so it’s a home from home for me and I can’t wait to show it to the world. It is a special place.

The show is hosted by Cheryl Casone, news anchor and financial correspondent for Fox Business Network, who “joined the network when it launched in 2007, and after buying and renovating her New York apartment, she became addicted to real estate, “according to a statement. by Fox Business PR.

“They looked at 3 locations: Sunset Sound, a new build, and Pelican Point. The kids were very involved,” Casone said.

She said the market was tighter than expected, but they finally found their dream home.

The show will air Tuesday, November 16 at 8 p.m. on the Fox Business Network.

“This is one of those things where we look at it and we’re going to see the episode for the very first time with everyone from our night out and I’m telling you,” said Michael White. “I think my 8 year old is going to steal the show.”
